All dog training classes are cancelled until the Coronavirus resolves.
Baindream Dog Training was startred by Dave Bain in 2005. Initially the club trained outside,, then moved into the Bullion Hall in Chester-le-Street, before the practice moved into unit 1 Turnpark in 2013, and a training room was made availible.
Following our expansion into Unit 2 Turnpark, Baindream have the use of the large open ground floor with a beautiful Canadian maple sprung dance floor installed by a previous tenant. It's been sanded and treated with a non slip squash court coating, so the dogs are both happy and safe moving on it. Much more training space and the original unit 1 training room becomes space for either a second class or for seminars.
Dave Bain, as many people will know, has had a miserable two years of ill health, and has now decided to retire.
After several months uncertainty about the future of the club, resulting in no new courses being started since summer 2018, Gill Maxwell has now taken over, and new classes are starting. Gill has worked with Dave from the start, and is a Kennel Club A1 Gold Examiner for the Good Citizens Scheme. She has a lot of experience training dogs under the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, and has put all her own dogs through to gold level. Having worked competitive obedience in the past with her beloved Tyree, she has recently concentrated on breed showing.
Gill is (as well as being a full time vet) is a member of ISAP (International Society of Animal Prifessionals) and is the Veterinary Advisor for the ICB (International Canine Behaviourists) and IFB (International Feline Behaviourists). Dave has remained on the club insurance, and will be popping in to help out when his health improves. He hopes to be able to resume behaviour consultations if his health allows, but at the moment is unable to offer this service. Carol Corrigan will continue to help teach classes with Gill, and continues in her role as 'social secretary', organising our nights out.
All training by Baindream is reward based, and harsh handling/punishment is not permitted. Check chains or pinch collars are forbidden. We are stockists of 'Dogmatic' headcollars and leads, the gentle, self-rewarding method of leash walking remedial training.
We have started puppy courses again. It is unlikely that we will start another course before Christmas. as Gill is away for two weeks in November, and we don't want the courses to be interrupted mid stream.
For places contact Carol Corrigan on 0773734447 or mail [email protected]
All puppies must have completed their vaccinations courses and be microchipped.
