I graduated as a vet in 2008 in Bucharest, Romania. Same year I travelled to UK for an Official Veterinarian course and started working in meat safety and public health since April 2009. Worked in different parts of the UK. Later on, I decided to change paths and work in a clinical practice, I joined Cestria in 2017 and been with them since. At home I have a lovely son that keeps me busy and I’m a proud owner of a beautiful white cat. I enjoy trips in nature and anywhere warm and with blue skies. I have an interest in Ophthalmology and doing my best to learn more in this area, currently studying for my certificate.

I'm Maria and I've worked here since 2017. The favourite part of my job is nurse consults; especially wounds, weight clinics, blood pressure monitoring and anal glands - the fuller the better!! I am currently doing a further qualification in Feline Nursing and I'm really keen to make the practice more cat friendly. I've got a cat called Purdy and two Rottweilers, Grizzly and Gina.

Student Veterinary Nurse

Hi I’m Amanda one of the student nurses. I never knew I was supposed to do this job, but now I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do, I love it. I’ve achieved a lot in my life but I regard this as my calling. I can’t say it has been easy, without the amazing support of my husband and family plus my clinical coach Jessica RVN I don’t think I would be in the position I am, which is awaiting the results of my practical exam, so fingers crossed I will become a Registered Veterinary Nurse very soon! I love handing back animals to their owners and seeing them so happy, this makes me happy, especially when they are very unwell and know I have had a hand in making them better.

Student Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Ashleigh, I’m a student veterinary nurse in my final year, with only my practical exam left to do. Being a student veterinary nurse certainly has its challenges. However, I’m so proud of what I have achieved so far, managing studying, work, college and with my own little family too. I’m extremely grateful to Maria my clinical coach and head nurse, I wouldn’t be where I am today without her support and encouragement. Of course, thank you to all the nurses at Cestria for your support you’re all amazing! Caring for animals is all I ever wanted and to do this on a daily basis is a blessing. I have a 1-year-old Springer Spaniel called Lottie and a 6-month-old Cocker Spaniel called Arya they’re very crazy and full of energy but the most loving and loyal pets anyone could ask for.

Hi I’m Heather, I’ve been here since I left school in 2021. I jumped right in with no proper plan but to go ahead with the veterinary care assistant course. It came with its challenges but it was such a good course in the end. With the love and care I have towards all pets I am glad I now have a position as a patient care assistant and receptionist, greeting your furry pets at the door and seeing the behind the scenes of a brilliant and supportive team of veterinary staff! I have two cats called Dodger and Flump and a crazy spaniel called Jess.

Hi, I'm Kirsten. I joined the team as Head CCA in December 2021. I spent 10 years working as a veterinary nurse many, many years ago! After many years in hotel management I returned to animals. I've worked with and owned lots of different animals, but I currently have two cats.

I joined the Chester-le-Street practice in November 2020 as a CCA, after taking early retirement from teaching for 30 years. My true love has always been animals, especially dogs. So it wasn't a surprise when I ended up working at the vets. I am a girl who loves Border Collies. I only have little Mist now, who has a beautiful soul and keeps me busy. In my spare time, I love reading and shopping (A lot!)

Gave me more information about my dog in one visit than 3 visits to a rival vet. Amazing practice with friendly staff.

The staff at this practise couldn't of cared for Harvey any better wjen I took him in very poorly they spent over 1 hour doing tests and scan to find the issue and even kept checking on how I was feeling as it was very very stressful night . Could not recommend them enough

We moved from Abbey Vets to Cestria as there was such big difference in charges. Cestria pricing was always very reasonable and fair. However, since Medivet bought out the owner the prices have changed noticeably. I know the Govt are looking into this and given the captive market situation I think it's time regulation was brought in

Absolutely amazing such care and compassion shown After such an horrible experience with our previous vet . Unfortunately lost our izzy but instead of receiving a bill we received a card saying sorry about losing her . If need someone to care about your animals this team of professionals are worth a look at I now have registered my other dog who is izzys brother with a medical condition. The vet who sadly has izzy put to sleep saw harley. He listened to what we had to say a put his welfare above anything. Thank you guys . A tough time made easier with compassion and care .
